About the Artwork: Shanghai was Elyn’s birthplace. Her childhood memories will belong there forever – her grandparents, a bicycle in all seasons, and different smells in summer and in winter. And then, those French trees, a stinking river, backfiring boats on the Suzhou River. She had no friends and would spend her time thinking about the lights of her city. She would secretly listen to sung, often sad, love broadcasts on an imprisoned radio. At dawn, her intoxicated and misty angels of the night would wake up as vampires and drain her days. Shanghai was her city and her hell. The scars are deep that prevent her from sleeping each night despite all intoxications. The scars will remain indelible.
